Today I’m thankful for rest. My hubby had the day off, so we spent the morning being productive and then we took an afternoon stroll followed by a two hour nap. Fletcher enjoyed both! He hasn’t been sleeping as well as we’d like at night, so it was great to have a few hours off.
God invented rest because he knew we’d need it. He gave us an example of when and how to rest in Genesis 2, by saying,
“Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.” Genesis 2:1-3
Not only does this tell us that it’s okay to rest, but it tells us that this day can be the Lord’s! I can get so caught up in being productive for the Lord and too focused on how well I’m serving Him, that I forget that in my rest I can honor Him as well.
I thank Him for my husband’s day off and the chance to simply rest!
What are you thankful for today?
